This web-based business profile supports the Chamber’s new growth

East St. Tammany Parish is located on the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain bordered on the east by the Honey Island Swamp and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Our major population centers, including Slidell, Pearl River and Lacombe, are experiencing unprecedented development and growth. Residents are committed to preserving its natural resources which include scenic byways and waterways that have dreawn visitors since the 1800s. While clearly benefiting from our proximity to New Orleans, East St. Tammany Parish has come into its own in tourism and relocation value.

The development of the 31 mile long Tammany Trace along an abandoned railroad connection is fast becoming a popular avenue for hiking, jogging, cycling, birdwatching, and family outings. The many miles of scenic bayous, streams, creeks and rivers are havens for weekend boateers and campers.

The Pearl River Wildlife Management Area, which encompasses the Honey Island Swamp, is a 34,896 acres managed for wildlife and includes a 250 square mile cypress-tupelo swamp. The Honey Island Swamp is one of the least explored swamps in America!

East St. Tammany Parish is also home to the Big Branch National Wildlife Refuge comprised of over 13,000 acres. Big Branch is home to a multitude of wildlife including the alligator, brown pelican, and the bald eagle. At the Chevron Boardwalk in Slidell, you can experience one of Louisiana’s most significant wetland regions.

Festivals and fun abound year round and celebrate everything from carnival to jazz, sailing, antiques, art, seafood, and are family-friendly.
