Even though the Tommie Vassel for Mayor campaign didn’t succeed, we gave a valiant effort to help him.
EXPERIENCE. INTEGRITY. RESULTS.
This is a critical time in our City and there is no race more important than choosing our next Mayor. We need strong, independent and proven leadership. I am a nationally recognized CPA with over 36 years of experience. I am going to scrub the budget and guarantee all of our citizens receive the services that they deserve.
I am a lifelong resident of the Tremé Neighborhood. I was the Chief Financial Officer for the Judges of Criminal District Court. For the past four years, I have served as the Chairman of the Budget Working Group for the Orleans Parish Jail Consent Decree. I have mentored and tutored thousands of youth in New Orleans. To reduce crime, I plan to lead hundreds of black men in productive activities in our community. I have a proven record of creating jobs and will create good jobs for our citizens. Join Team Vassel and let’s reclaim Our City and take it to the next level!
Tommie served on the Board as a member and President Pro-Tem of the Board from 2002 – 2011. I assumed a leadership role during the rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. The City was under water and so was a major portion of our facilities. As President Pro-Tem, I lobbied FEMA and Congress for the revenue to repair our water, sewer, drainage and power systems. When my tenured ended the SWB had received over $600 million dollars in Project Work Sheets and the Corps of Engineers over $2 billion to repair the levees and permanent pumps. As your Mayor, I will attend Board meetings and get monthly updates on the working conditions of all pumps, turbines, and the other facilities. We will never again not be prepared to protect our citizens from rain, floods or hurricanes.
